Olive Ridge School
Education for the Future
We are dedicated to preparing our wonderful children for the future, helping them compete internationally and instilling the emotional intelligence to cope with the demands of a digital world.
Who we are
At Olive Ridge School in Bloemfontein, we provide a safe, curiosity-nurturing and fun educational environment where learners are able to explore, discover and prepare themselves to become life-long learners. We help them to become confident in their own knowledge; responsible for themselves and respectful of others; compassionate towards others; striving for greatness and doing the best they can; and persistent to be great. We promote learning through play in the Early Years Foundation Stage, but prepare our pre-primary learners (toddlers, Gr RR and Gr R) for the more formal setting of the Junior Preparatory Stage (Gr 1 – 3). We pay particular attention to our learners’ development of deep subject knowledge, conceptual understanding and higher order thinking.
In order to bring world-class aligned education to our learners, we will be offering the Cambridge International subjects as supplementary to the full IEB curriculum (CAPS) for the Junior Preparatory- and Senior Preparatory Stages. The program is further enriched with the STEAM approach to learning, making it a first of its kind in Bloemfontein. The International Preschool Curriculum (IPC) employs cutting-edge educational philosophies, we cater for children from 18 months to Grade RR. Within this framework, we offer the child an orientated curriculum which originated from research done on the best teaching and learning practices in the world, blending a multiple-intelligence approach taken from methodologies of the International Cambridge Curriculum, the International Preschool Curriculum (IPC) and the IEB Curriculum (CAPS) to develop their readiness required for Grade 1.
Our centre is a state-of-the-art facility, designed to make learning thought-provoking and fun, and also enhancing the children’s learning by incorporating Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Sesotho, Afrikaans, Digital Literacy and Music. Our teachers are qualified, experienced, dedicated and creative. We believe childhood is a magical time, therefore our passionate teachers are dedicated to help learners achieve greatness through playful learning experiences.
